WEDDING DAY! LET THE MEMORIES BEGIN
Getting ready
Our usual approach on your big day is to arrive at either the bride or groom's getting ready location in the morning. My initial step is to gather and document the relevant details of the day, including the bride's dress, shoes, veil, jewelry, fragrance, rings, invitation, and flowers, and the groom's suit, tie, shoes, cuff links, bow tie, and boutonniere. During this time, I allow you to carry on with your preparations and focus on your tasks, while I discreetly capture the moments.
I also take candid shots of the bride and bridesmaids while they are getting ready, including having their makeup and hair done, and similarly, I capture the groom and groomsmen as they spend time together. If you guys some epic looking photos make sure to bring something to celebrate with! This can be balloons, champagne or confetti for the bridesmaids. Or some shots/beers/cigars for the groomsmen.
When the bride is ready to get dressed we step out and have her put on the dress but not zip the back. I then bring in the bride's mother or maid of honor, and bridesmaids to help her complete the process. I create a series of semi-staged shots, but I also allow for natural interactions and moments to unfold.
Once the bride is fully dressed, I take time to photograph her in the most flattering light, capturing portraits of the bride alone, as well as with her mother and bridesmaids. If time allows, we can take these photos both inside and outside.
The same process applies to the groom. I help him move into the best light and bring in his father or best man to assist with putting on his tie and cuff links. I then capture portraits of the groom looking his best and with his father and groomsmen.
After photographing either the bride or groom first, I then proceed to the other's getting ready location.
First Look
A "first look" is a precious moment during a wedding day when the bride and groom first lay eyes on each other, fully dressed and ready for their wedding ceremony. This tradition provides an opportunity for capturing beautiful photographs of the couple together, utilizing the natural light available.
The first look can of course be of the father, mother and bridesmaids as well! We will ask if that’s something you might be comfortable or interested in doing.
Ceremony
You can ignore me during this part of the day, we will capture the bride and bridal party walking up the aisle while also getting the grooms reaction. Raw video footage of the ceremony will be provided.
Wedding Party Photos
I like to capture these photos in a more traditional way first, with groomsmen and bridesmaids in classical poses, but then I like to switch it up with some fun/party photos.
Should you desire individual portraits of each bridal party member, kindly inform me. Although group shots are more commonly preferred, I am willing to take individual portraits upon request. These photos are usually taken after the ceremony but can also be taken during reception.
Bride and Groom Portraits
Brides and grooms often prefer outdoor natural light photography for their portraits, as do I. I typically begin with a few traditional shots with you facing the camera, followed by more relaxed and contemporary images where I encourage interaction with one another instead of looking at me.
I encourage movement and natural expressions of happiness and love, and may occasionally pose you for a more flattering angle. If time permits, I will also capture an epic sunset during the "Golden Hour," which is the best lighting of the day. I will also follow up with some more dramatic photos with flash and gels.
Reception
During the reception, I prefer to capture candid shots. I will document the tables and details in the room before they are disturbed, provided there is sufficient time. We will also cover some of the most important moments of the day such as the grand entrance, first dances, speeches, cutting of the cake and wedding games (flower toss, garter toss. money dance, etc).
Family/Friend Portraits
We will attempt to take photos of everyone our bride and groom desires with them. This ranges from parents, grandparents, siblings, whole family, and friends.
General Dancing/Party
I will continue to photograph the dancing until time or exhaustion prevents me from doing so..
Exits
The exit will depend on your timeline and the number of hours you have booked. I appreciate a good exit, even if it is simply a group hug with your friends. Spontaneous exits are often the most memorable.
