What To Look For In A Venue
For Couples from The Rio Grande Valley
How Do I Start, and What Vendors To Book?
Trying to find the perfect venue can be tough because you might not know exactly what you’re looking for just yet. There are plenty of things to consider; the number of guests, wedding colors, overall vibe, organizing the reception, lighting, decor, flow of the room, etc. but don’t worry, I am here to help!
Below are a few things to take into consideration as you’re touring potential wedding and reception venues for your perfect wedding!
1.Make Sure You Got Plenty of Room
Before proceeding, consider if you prefer everything in one location or multiple locations. This should be kept in mind during the planning process.
Before touring potential venues, it is best to have an estimate of the number of guests you intend to invite. It is important to avoid selecting a venue that cannot accommodate your guests or your intended activities. The selected venue should be spacious enough to comfortably hold everyone and provide adequate room for movement.
When selecting a venue, envision your wedding and consider what features you would like, such as food stations, photo booths, ample dance floor, and guest interaction areas. This is especially important for the reception since no one wants a cramped dance floor.
2. How To Find The Best Venue

3. How Private Of An Event Do You Want?
The level of privacy a venue provides is one of the factors that distinguishes it from others.
At some venues, multiple events may take place simultaneously, resulting in other guests celebrating at the same location as you and your guests. Although some couples are unfazed, as long as it means they can have their dream venue, others may desire more seclusion.
Consider renting a private location or property if you want an unrestricted wedding reception without any time constraints.
Moreover, you may desire a vast dance floor to party on without criticism, which is perfectly reasonable!
4. How Does The Venue Flow? What’s The Vibe?
When planning your big day, don't forget to map out your designated zones for dining, dancing, and any other activities you have planned for the evening. While you're venue hunting, picture where each event will take place in the reception area. It's crucial to consider the layout of the space for seating, strolling, and mingling, especially if your ceremony is also taking place at the same venue.
But wait, there's more! Remember to think about how people can move around once all the tables and chairs are set up, including your beloved photographer. If we're trapped in a corner, we might miss capturing those priceless moments you'll cherish forever. So, let's plan for ample space to make sure we're snapping the best shots from every angle!
5. To Match Or Not To Match?
As you navigate the wedding planning process, you may have already selected one (or maybe even two, let's be real) color schemes. You likely have a specific vibe in mind that will also impact your overall ambiance. If you're striving for a cohesive look, there are a few key things to consider.
Take into account the walls, lighting, floors, chairs, and even the available space when choosing your decor. If you're heading out to scope out a potential venue, bring your color swatches with you if you have them. This handy trick will give you a better idea of how your chosen hues will look and feel in the space.
6. And Finally…. Take Notes Of The Small Details
Don't overlook the small things when selecting your wedding venue! It's important to consider the parking situation near or at the venue. If you're smitten with a space that lacks sufficient parking, explore alternative transportation options like a shuttle bus or trolley. Keep in mind that although limited parking isn't necessarily a deal-breaker, it may result in added costs.
Furthermore, it's crucial to assess the acoustics of the venue and ensure there isn't an annoying echo that could interfere with the music. Take a quick scan of the area and make note of any electrical outlets to ensure your DJ or band will have access to the power they require.
By paying close attention to these essential details and how they will impact your special day, you'll be well on your way to finding the ideal venue for your wedding celebration!
7. Seems Like Too Much?
Planning a wedding isn't an everyday occurrence like it is for me. So try to enjoy it as much as you can!
My ultimate goal is for you to have the most amazing wedding day, just the way you want it! Don't feel pressured to conform to anyone else's expectations. If you catch yourself thinking, "Why am I supposed to do that?" or "I've been told I have to...", just remember to stay true to yourself and do what feels right for you.
Remember, this is your big day, so have a blast, let loose, and do things your way! ❤️
